A very strong and talented Weymouth team, playing for its playoff life (in what was to be their last game of the year), held on for a 20-14 win on Thanksgiving Day on an otherwise picture perfect day for football. We say 'ran out of time' because the Rebels were clearly outplaying the Wildcats by a wide margin throughout the fourth quarter yesterday. With one more possession (or maybe playing with 12 minute quarters instead of 10), Walpole would have scored again and won 21-20. Remember, this Wildcat offense had been scoring an average of 40+ points per game, and we held them to half of that.
Here's our take on this game. This was essentially a controlled scrimmage for the Rebels against a very good team. We have bigger goals - a date with Dennis-Yarmouth on Tuesday evening. So, the Thanksgiving Day game was a chance to try some things out (a reverse! Don't give up on those screens!), test out Mike Rando's knee, work on on-side kicks, blocking punts, get the right people in the secondary - all with an eye toward the bigger picture of winning on Tuesday and getting back to our rightful place in the Division 2A Super Bowl.

It's time to resurrect the old Patriots rallying (although ichthyologicaly incorrect) cry against the Miami team with the same name as Dennis-Yarmouth Dolphins: SQUISH THE FISH!!
Our informed source was correct! The playoff game will be 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Bridgewater-Raynham HS.
(The 5:15 p.m. game is Bishop Feehan v. Bourne)
